BOOK STORY

Walked into the bank with the book, walked out with a sequence

Reggie had been to the same community bank four times in three years. Every time, the same banker said the same thing: 'come back when the file looks different.' The book is what finally told him what 'different' meant.

The problem

Reggie ran a small landscaping operation that had grown into a five-truck commercial maintenance company over six seasons. He had been a faithful checking customer at the same community bank since the LLC was formed.

Each time he asked for a working capital line, the banker would softly redirect him. Reggie kept thinking the bank was the problem. The book made him reconsider. The file was the problem.

He highlighted three pages, then booked a session.

What changed

The platform sequenced the file the way the book described it: personal first, business second, capital ask third — never all three at once. Eleven months later the same banker, at the same desk, wrote the line he had been politely declining for three years.

The work
  • 01Brought the personal Visa down from 67 percent utilization to 14 percent before the next statement-cut
  • 02Opened 4 reported business trade lines (uniforms, fuel, equipment supply, software) over 60 days
  • 03Filed 2 disputes on duplicate trade reporting on the personal file
  • 04Held off on every new application for 90 days while the file aged
  • 05Walked back into the same bank, with the same banker, with the same ask

The bank wasn't the problem. The bank had been telling me the truth — I just didn't know what to do with the truth until I read it laid out.
